Continuing the discussion and the lesson...
Following what may have been an almost-disastrous presentation during the actual Teacher-to-Teacher Peer Learning Conference, I'd like to make this attempt to continue the discussion and the lesson that I had tried to present to you at the conference.
I hope that you will be interested in joining this group blog, so that we can learn together and continue the collaboration that Stephany Lin had hoped to start when she sent me some notes about the proposal for this particular workshop. Perhaps by using this 'sandbox' blog, we can continue the lesson...and maybe bring a new modality of writing into our classrooms.

One of the items that I had not fully covered was the discussion about how to 'jazz up' a blog posting -- something that your students will probably be interested in doing. A nice way of doing that would be to add photos to the blog post -- of course, we would encourage our students to include photos that are appropriate to the posting. For example, here I'm going to post a photo of the Teacher-to-Teacher Peer Conference Banner. Notice that I have been able to place the photo so that the words 'wrap' around the image, similar to how it would appear in a magazine or in another web blog.
Blog authors can also add links: for example, here's a link to the blog created for the Blogging Committee at St. Benedict's. Although that blog has not been updated recently, there are several articles in there that you might find interesting, regarding improving literacy of adolescent students.
I will wait till we have a 'quorum' of authors/contributors to this blog, so that we can continue the lesson that I had hoped to present to you at the Peer Learning Conference. I eagerly look forward to 'seeing' you here so that we can collaborate. Thanks for being a part of this workshop.
